COVID-19 INFORMATION

In light of the Governor’s ‘Stay at Home’ mandate, we have reevaluated our school food service program. The issue is not whether feeding students important. We all agree it is. In one week alone, through the efforts of our dedicated employees and volunteers, we have served more than 14,000 meals to our students.

At this time, we must consider the safety and well-being of our employees, particularly in light of the shortage of adequate protective gear such as gloves and face masks. This week we will continue meal distribution on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at current sites except for Calhoun Elementary and Woodlawn Elementary. These students can pick up at alternate feeding sites. Monday and Wednesday students will receive two breakfasts and two lunches to provide for Tuesday and Thursday meals.

Accordingly, our school system will suspend its food services at all locations effective upon completion of serving this Friday, March 27th.  There will not be meals distributed beginning March 30th through April 13th. Also, all school offices and school board facilities will be closed from Tuesday, March 24th through April 13th. Please visit opsb.net for updates and information. With rising concerns regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Governor John Bel Edwards has closed all K-12 schools beginning on Monday, March 16, until April 13. This includes all Ouachita Parish School Board campuses and events. We feel this decision is in the best interest of the safety of all faculty, staff and students.

As always, communication with our students and families is something that is very important to us, and we will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Updates to families and the general public will be provided through this site and phone calls/text messages as deemed necessary. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, and we thank you for your continued support of our district.
